What are we doing to support moms returning to work after maternity leave in the US?

Coming from a person that worked in HR, I feel we could be doing a much better job.

We appreciate a lactation room but someone that just had an infant and up all hours of the night, especially a mom of twins..

There needs to be more support (including in hospitals which I won’t open that door)

To start:

1.) There needs to be check ins, how are you, how’s the workload

2.) There needs to be a transition period, part time to full time, the pace matters

3.) More flexability working from home especially with moms that have multiple children but really in general.

BONUS: Give us maternity leave for a year like they do in Europe.

There needs to be a better solution. We are failing moms and missing out on a niche of talent who are leaving positions because of this.

I truly don’t know how moms are doing it in production, onsite full time and traveling.

We are failing moms is the answer. This ain’t it.
